It's Time To Honor Ghouls

about

This song is about the best holiday throughout the year, throughout the world: Halloween. There is nothing more to say except that I cannot wait until October arrives. If it's October when you're reading this, then you know I'm ecstatic. Mike Romano, our drummer, came up with the seven time signature that makes up a lot of this song. Just call him Mr. Fancy Pants.

We also play this song considerably faster than the tempo recorded, which now sounds like a slog in comparison. The tempo sped up incrementally as we rehearsed the tune, then one day, someone, probably Adam Cunha, our bassist and paramilitary Portuguese provocateur, realized that the recorded version sounded like someone dragging a thumb along a spinning LP. It sounds better live now. Record any song on cassette, put it on high speed, if you have that function on your tape player, and it doesn't matter how much the song sucks: it will suddenly sound good. (Not that this song sucks. I think it's rather fetching. And it's about Halloween, don't you know.)

lyrics

Stuck between seventeen million dreams

We'll carve pumpkins with our broken hands
I don't wanna trick or treat dressed as you
Boring, boring

My girlfriend has a bloodstained axe in one hand
while the other grips the hair
of a severed head that she stole one night
from a mannequin

I'll make love to a ghoul tonight
with wax teeth and a bulging eye
Blood shot club-footed creep of mine

You've changed
You've changed
